I was born in Boston, educated
in Catholic school and an avid reader. I was fascinated with medicine,
psychology, Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and the abilities of the
mind. I graduated as a nurse, moved to Miami and studied psychology,
business and theology in a Catholic University. I worked for an international
airline as a purser and as a supervisor in Nursing. I soon became certified
in Mental Health Nursing and worked in a variety of venues, such as
pediatric intensive care, child and adolescent psychiatry, juvenile
and maximum security prisons and soon thereafter as a Director of Nursing
in a child/adolescent psychiatric hospital.
At one point I was an Associate
Vice President in a 550 bed hospital, and also faced the challenge
of working as an executive management consultant in hospitals across
the USA, helping restructure hospitals, and advise on strategic planning
and organizational changes to increase quality and productivity.
I believe I was successful
because I was able to motivate people and show them that they had the
ability within them to win in their current career. I had studied various
information that would likely only be an undergraduate version compared
to the masters level version that is presented in your book, The
Mind Accelerator. I know I would’ve enhanced my knowledge
considerably and been even more successful if I had this book available
to me then. But regardless, no matter what tools I had during this time
of my life, I would never have
been fully prepared for what happened next.
You see, in 1999, I lost my lifestyle.
I had a stroke and as I was recovering from this first strike against
my quality of life, I was told I had a fatal disease called multiple
sclerosis. In 2001, I suffered another stroke, only this time one much
more severe. After nearly meeting death and slipping into a deep coma
I was put on a ventilator for life support... my husband John was told
I would not live and if I did I would only exist in a vegetative state.
Thank god he refused to listen, and in pursuit
of recovery he took care of me night and day. Using his physical therapy
skills and bringing in positive music, affirmations and prayer, he spoke
to me, worked with me, and continually explained everything that was
going on with the intrusive medical procedures they were performing.
He single handedly weaned me off the ventilator, and I slowly
began to breathe on my own again.
As much of the damage I suffered was in
my cerebellum, it was extremely difficult to sit, stand, walk or even
use a spoon to eat. I could not use my arms or legs. I could not feed
myself.
I stopped doing all
the lessons that I had learned to become successful and depression began
to grip my mental state. This is when I was introduced to The Mind Accelerator: reading your book and living your program gave me a bolus of
hope…
When I read The Mind Accelerator I
immediately started doing positive affirmations and stopped destructive
self talk, as shown in Phase 1. I learned how to “catch myself”
when being negative and train myself to become positive. I would read
the quotes in the book and re-teach myself how to think—as the
quote from VTH says “your external self is a manifestation of
your internal self”. We manifest our thoughts and even if I did
not fully believe the positive affirmations at first, I suspended disbelief
and made my mind work for me. At night before bed I did my favorite
affirmations and pictured healing to take place while I was asleep.
When I woke up I started the day with "everyday in every way I
am getting better and better and better".
Taking simple steps such as this caused things to start happening quickly— As soon as
I began following the exercises of The Mind Accelerator, I started to
see striking personal growth occur. I was not stagnant any longer. I
walked onto the scale at the doctors office to find I had lost 15 pounds,
and after a closer examination he was astonished by the gains in strength
I had experienced. I began a physical therapy program and continued
toning and strengthening at a renewed pace. I am now 40 pounds
lighter than post stroke and I am continuing to lose weight…
I feel so much better about myself.
I have fully awakened
from my depressed state, I am actually doing low impact aerobics now and am functioning the best
that I can… although I must admit that I have re-defined what
“best” means, and hope that I can continue to break into
new ground.
You have written a textbook of very condensed
information complete with quotes from philosophers and successful intellectuals.
It is structured in Phases to layer the knowledge and it’s very
well written, accurate and effective! It is of such a compelling and
informative nature, that I will re-read many parts again and again over
the course of my lifetime.
I have found the Infinity Mind System found
in Phase 2 to be a way to improve your life and thinking in groundbreaking
ways… I know those IQ gains that are promised are occurring, because
I can feel myself getting smarter. I have begun learning the Infinity
Reading System, and am starting down the road to iReading at 25,000
wpm.
Most people in our society are unaware of
the power inside of them, and that they are capable of programming themselves
like a computer to accomplish their goals. Most people are unaware of
the importance of setting long term goals, short term goals and objectives
(steps to that goal). Using meditation, visualization, affirmations
and precise strategy to work out the mind, just as we do our bodies
for physical changes, with the guidance of Phase 4 I have done what
most people haven’t.
I have charted a new course
for myself and I cannot thank the author and the team at Volition Thought
House enough.
Sincerely,
Sue Ann Koop, BSc, Multiple Sclerosis
and Stroke Survivor
